I found that the two main characters, Marianne no Connell, were the only ones that had any depth and was not sure if this is intentional. The story is pretty predictable in terms of the relationship of Marianne and Connell and even the alienation that they feel at university is a common theme. Both are damaged in different ways and the story would have benefitted with some more exploration of this rather than portraying it through their sexual expression. Again the female character is degraded in so many ways which I find very offensive. Even though Connell feels like he’s always playing a role, he maintains his dignity throughout the series. It’s worth a watch but for me fell short and I was disappointed.
