Caveat: I pretty much hate most TV shows because I don't like the attemps at emotional manipulation, TV Schmacting (bad acting) or crumby CGI, so take this with a grain of salt.
Watching the show is probably the worst way to experience the story. The costumes are weird, the actors are also pretty weird in a David Lynch kind of way- all foreheads and chins. They made odd choices with some very obvious contact lenses and it can be pretty distracting for me.
The story feels dramatic for drama's sake, meaning the interactions and dramatic scenes feel overcooked and maudlin. I spent a lot of time rolling my eyes or feeling embarrased.
If you can identify with any of that, I suggest you read the books or get them on audible if books are not your thing. For what it's worth, I'm playing through the game Witcher 3 for the second time because I enjoyed it so much.
