So today after thinking about the movie and letting it sink in 🤔. I think it is a absolute MUST SEE for any gay man, especially if as a kid grew up listening to Elton’s early hit songs while struggling with family acceptance, self love, painful reality of the coming out and how this experience still impacts who you are today. This should be on broadway 🎭. The movie is a “let go” experience because you switch from watching from a distance to traveling through what’s going on in Elton’s head literally. The dream sequences are amazing and the music is awesome with no voice overs, so it feels real. Not gonna lie, the movie pulls on your emotions a lot and it’s a tear jerker and also has some intense scenes when Elton spirals out of control on his binges on alcohol and cocaine. I give it 5 stars! The movie literally grabbed me and took me back in time. I felt like I was there in person. Don’t want to give anything away but there is a very very powerful scene when Elton comes to terms with his childhood being a young boy and honestly the whole theater was shook. The “Your Song” sequence will have you 😭 , but it felt so real to me. I say go see it before it leaves the theater.
