The show deconstructs the notion of the superhero in a way that, like strong examples of sci-fi and fantasy genres, reveals cultural anxieties about practices re sexuality, technology, identity, and intimacy. Its ongoing commentary on how “branding” and social media affect young people’s lives and educations is totally on point.

I RESENT THAT THIS movie took 2.5 hours from my life THAT I WILL NEVER GET BACK

A lyrical and magical homage to the once-vibrant “world of letters.” I have loved Wes Anderson movies ever since I met Steve Zissou. That Anderson would make such a loving film about American writers in Paris makes me almost adore him.

The writing is god awful... and the plot promises to have every cliché possible... Why is it that even a show about an alternate reality still revolves around a psychologically wounded man who will use this beyond-natural disaster to restore his place as the head of the family..?

While Ellis Ross glows brightly, the screenplay dampens every moment where some fire could have started. I heard almost every line of dialogue in my head a second before it was uttered: the writing was that predictable.. And what’s with the whole “it takes a white person to bring back together an African American family” plot? I was expecting sooo much from this film, especially after TER’s interview on NPR. I loved her, but all that true star power couldn’t make this film shine.
