To be honest, it is really an emotional movie that is basically based on post colonial concepts such as identity, diaspora and hegemony. The movie portrayed a picture of what is happening to third world countries as a whole.In addition, is the cultural practices (female genital mutation) it will have a long term effect to the victims that are operated on these practices. Its true, that it is their traditional culture in a sense that it makes them who they are , what makes them, them. Iam student, after watching the movie, it has really given me a perspective of how women are mistreated in some third world countries and i have worked on a presentation to create awareness and spread such acts to be put to stop.My main objective after my presentation is to inform citizens about such practices.
