As an author, I read the book first and then a few reviews. Some were bordering nasty, though people, real readers, loved it. Now I know what I was beginning to suspect: that professional reviews are just one person's opinion, which makes me feel better about my own book. You see, Counting by 7s is lovely. The cast of characters are unique and complex. I loved the random insertion of different point of views, and they added much to the fullness of the story. I did feel it went on too long and was a bit heavy handed with stating the theme, but I adored the characters, especially Willow. It's a story with heart and a feel good read. I don't know the author, but I learned a lot about craft from reading this novel, so thank you, Holly Sloan.
