Guilty - Netflix's new movie in reference to #MeToo Movement and Section 375 I guess. I have a mixed feeling about this movie. It started well and quite engaging yet confusing majority of the time. Watch it for Kiara's brilliant potrayal of Nanki. Things which made me rethink about this opportunity lost to make an Epic are College scenes I guess was lil over the top, the story started with an opportunist girl using her powers by law to harass a powerful and privileged boy, which later proved to be something different. Character development seems to be weak and in confused state. What it seems ended up in different mode without proper justification and acceptance. First 1 hour was good but later it became a mess. For me the climax was the weak point here. I am no way against the end result of climax but it should have portrayed in better manner rather than over the top all of the sudden inner conscious realization. Director played smart by not entering into Courtroom drama which would have been a perfect choice but instead he chooses to one on one internal briefing. There were no police, no forensic etc in so called Rape or no rape potrayal story. What made Movies like Pink and Section 375 one of the epic movies is there superb scripted court room scenes. Here director run away from those legal complexity. The characters Nanki & Tanu were so confusingly portrayed. No doubt the actors did their best. Only the character of Danish was perfectly potrayed as from start to end he was consistent.
There are few real scenes which were showcased in very poor way specially the guy masturbating in metro underground and the blind person, I don't know for what he was shown.
Overall I would say the actors did their job perfectly but technical aspects and character development just spoiled the epic in making. 25 mins trim would have also helped as in Midway it felt lil boring and dragging. Story like this which is so so relevant and important nowadays must be handled by a skillful and experienced director who has a vision and clarity on what he wants to show to the audience.
It's a one time watch for Kiara's brilliant acting.
