This film is actually great. It is basically what I wanted as a kid, a second version. Content wise, I do not want to spoil anything for the sake of future viewers who are interested. However, there are some criticisms that I want to make regarding this new version. The first version has this "documentary" character to it, which is what makes the first version unique. The second version is just basically a story just like any other modern days' cartoons. It is not necessarily bad, but if I had to choose, I would've chosen the first version instead. The way the tidal waves operate in the first version looks very realistic. However, this is not the case with the second version. This just basically makes the film a bit too "cartoonish" for my liking. Regarding the fact that other viewers straight up hate the second version, I can see why and one of the reasons should be mentioned above. Other reasons including the content,.. for me it doesn't have that much impact, but it is noticeable. Overall, I do like the film, I just think it doesn't have the same punch as the first version. If they make the third version, that would be fantastic!
