I'll say right off the bat that the scares in this movie are top-notch. They are very well executed, and they're bound to make you jump, make your skin crawl, and leave you creeped out, and I love this movie for that. If that sounds like your cup of tea, definitely check it out! It's a fun, scary time. The thing that frustrates me is how quickly the story moves. We don't get much time to get to know the characters, and the story itself moves so fast that it can either feel confusing or too simple. That being said, I did love this movie, I just wish it took its time a bit more and let us get more invested in the characters, mysteries, and story it was trying to tell! It would have been a lot more impactful if it had. But for what it is, it's still a fun movie with FANTASTIC scares. Even with its flaws, I'd still recommend this movie highly!

Overall, I thought this was a pretty interesting horror movie. If you're looking for a masterpiece of a horror movie, this isn't it. It has its very glaring shortcomings, but I enjoyed it for what it was. Four criminals break into a house to find a tape they were tipped off on, with the intent to sell it for a big sum of money. What they found instead is a creepy house filled with a bunch of TVs and tapes. They play five of these tapes. The tapes are each a short horror movie, about 20 minutes each, with their own self-contained stories, and they are the main focus of the movie. If that concept sounds interesting, you'll probably find this movie to be worth a watch. It definitely delivers on this concept in an interesting way, even if the shorts range from being pretty good to meh. The shorts vary in quality, some being really genuinely frightening, others being silly and campy in a charming sort of way, and others being a bit boring. But the ones that I did enjoy, I enjoyed a lot. And I appreciate that with their length of about 20 minutes each, none of them really overstayed their welcome. They got in, did their scares, and got out. So if this sounds interesting to you, and you don't mind nudity and gore (especially when the gore special effects are pretty cheesy and silly), check it out. It's fun, at least. The first and fifth shorts are my personal favorites!

My favorite horror movie ever, as well as one of my favorite movies in general. It sports a fantastically horrifying monster, a brilliant use of practical effects, and wonderfully grotesque and terrifying twists and turns. Some of the effects may seem a bit dated, however, for the most part, the effects still hold up, and if anything, how unreal they seem only manages to make them even creepier. The acting is terrific, the atmosphere manages to stay consistently tense and claustrophobic throughout, and it's chockful of great, cleverly executed scares. If you're in the market for a genuinely unique, clever, terrifying, and classic horror movie, you need to check this Thing out!
