I am a huge Sopranos fan and enjoyed the film but I never really engaged. It felt like it was a snapshot with no linear plot. Cinematography felt dark and muddy. Ultimately I think perhaps it was rushed. No real depth to the characters, even the main protagonist feels a bit 2 dimensional. The best performance was probably by Michelangelo Del Rossi. I did find the dual role of Ray Liotta to be an interesting device and a bit Macbethian but ultimately this film fell a little flat for me. I’m not sure what the point of the racial tensions had to do with the story line. It felt peripheral and felt completely underdeveloped. Probably worth watching for some fun backstory for the Sopranos characters, but not worth going to the theater for.
