I live in the U.S. and only three episodes are out at the moment. Although I have not read the books I absolutely love fantasy, history, and lure; so the title Discovery of Witches, really caught my eye. I also love BBC programming l think that the UK takes thier time in plot and character
development, unlike most U.S. shows.
That being said, and again l have not read the books, l found the show a bit lackluster. It was a but all over the place. I wasn't sure if it was fantasy, romance, or a thriller. In trying to do so much it never distinctly captured any one genre successfully. And Diana, Diana is such a bore! I felt like l was watching Twilight as Bella was just as mundane. I just did not feel the chemistry portrayed between Diana and Matthew. The romance felt awkward and forced, by the writers, not sultry.
The history of the vampires and witches were not developed. The demon aspect was just dropped all together. Just a convoluted mess. I really wanted the show to give me more lure but Diana and Matthew just got in the way. I have just watched episode 3, I hope the next episodes get better.
