An interesting take on The Joker. Joaquin Pheonix definitely had a masterful perfromance. The movie just didn't blow me away. The Joker felt too much like a victim, where as Joker's greatest quality is his ability to make decisions illogically. The Joker I'm used to wouldn't have just gone on the show and said all he said and made it seem like he didn't care. He would kill the host and everyone in the crowd with zero explanation, leaving bloody smiles everywhere just to make people smile in the way he loves to see it. It was definitely a different take on how The Joker could have become who he is, but I felt this took too much away from his cold blooded presence. I have to disagree with anyone who says this Joker was creepy or whatever...as great of a job as Pheonix does, this Joker just is just easier to sympathize with. Creepy would be something more unfathomable. Giving The Joker a reason, is making him more human...and that's just not The Joker.
