A severely underestimated and underrated movie. Yes, it is pretty weird and wacky, but it's also so beautiful and loving. Each scene oozes with so much passion for the craft of animation, and the voice actors give it their all. The songs are catchy, and in some cases rather touching. The characters are enchanting and charming. I think time hasn't been fair for this movie, it deserves to be watched and admired. The visuals alone cry out for a Blu-Ray release where it gets a wonderful clean up in Hi-Def. The only issue I really have with the movie is it's scattered plot. Essentially, it's a rescue mission with Ann and Andy saving a new doll before morning, and they come across many wacky things along the way. It's own plot tends to take a backseat to give us weird and wonderous sequences of song and dance, with surreal and often interesting characters. It's a seemingly simple movie, that I think does a lot with what little it started with. Some complain about the amount of songs and the abrupt ending, although I wasn't personally bothered. The movie has a real interesting history behind it, and I encourage anyone and everyone to read about it. But even more so, I encourage everyone to watch it. It's a magical little flick that you'll never forget.
