I hate this game and I keep playing it because it is addictive the same way as gambling. If you watch a lot of Rust content on YouTube you will see a lot of adds for a "Rust skin" gambling sight. It is not a mistake. There is a huge amount of crossover. In this game you spend time and effort to equip yourself, but are constantly at risk of losing it all to another player. The combat system is punishing. There are plenty of ways to die with one hit. The adrenaline involved in playing this game is real. It feels very exciting. The highs and lows are intense. The psychological and psychological effects of this game are the same as gambling. There is a real hit of dopamine when you get the good loot. The gambling and addictive nature of this game should preclude children from playing it, but it does not. The game is filled with preteens spouting racist epitaphs and putting racist signage around the game. It is alarmingly disconcerting. I frequently feel disgusted with myself for playing this game. It really brings out the worst in people and that is frightening when it comes to how young the player base is.
