I thought this movie really captured the essence of the Lovecraft story, though it didn't slavishly follow the plot. I went to the movie thinking it would fall flat, and was very pleasantly surprised. More creepy and disquieting than scary, the film left me with a strong feeling of unease. This is the truest adaptation of a Lovecraft story that I have seen. I would love to see the creative team now adapt The Call of Cthulhu and the Dunwich Horror. They have shown that Lovecraft can be effectively brought to the screen
