Ron Palmerton

The story speaks about so many imperfect families despite only chronicling one. It dispels the myth that white privilege is ubiquitous. All families, regardless of color, have struggles. True too that they all have love though it may manifest itself in unhealthy ways. It speaks to the value of grit and determination. If we are strong enough, we can overcome circumstances to make our lives what we want them to be through hard work. I loved and lived this movie.

I thought the movie was amazing! It was sad, funny, difficult to watch in parts, and inspiring all in one movie. I know the term based on a true story allows for some artistic interpretation but felt the acting and directing reflected the story of this amazing man very well. I have had priests who were aloof and almost unapproachable and I have had priests that were closer to Fr Stu. I learned so much more from the later because they were relatable to me and my life. Absolutely loved this movie!
