This book falls into the age old fallacy that this generation is better than the generations before it. Obviously there are advances in certain things, science, engineering, medicine etc but where is the advance in empathy, in understanding of the human heart. This book does not really address the real reason why all Utopian ideals fail and so is really just the "same old, same old" that we have read since the ancients but dressed up in modern language.
And not only that but he has a dreary, very wordy way of saying it. A essay would have been OK, a whole (and thick) book is really just too much.
