Philosophers have said that nothing lasts forever. They were basically wrong. The "Star Wars" series seemingly will go on and on. And it will always entertain us.

Few films will ever have an ending as poignant and ironically powerful as Cameron's "Titanic". Its flaws are literally washed away in the final chapters of the film. As a bonus we also have a sharp portrayal of the absurd class system so many people of the place and time so disgustingly embraced. It.is overall a timeless and terrific movie.

More than ever in these so trying times we need such genuine and still inspirational classics as "Casablanca". It is a film that defines humanity while still being human.

It has been many, many years since I was a sixth grader and selected "Call of the Wild" from the school library. I loved that story all those years ago. The world has turned over many times since that day of long ago. But I just saw the most recent film adaptation and I loved it. Some things never do change.

"The Gentlemen" combines adventure, an overall outstanding plot with wonderful twists, lighthearted satirical humor, excellent performances, and comic book violence. And it pulls it off. It makes for a most entertaining day in the theatre.

"Sonic the Hedgehog" is just plain fun. It's a throwback to the glorious Saturday morning TV cartoon festivals. Hedgehogs make the world a nicer place.Especially one like Sonic.

"Bombshell" is a relative rarity for movie docudramas that deal with recent events.It is highly entertaining and realistically compelling. Charlize Thereon and Margot Robbie both deserved their Oscar nominations and both Nicole Kidman and John Lithgow could also have been nominated.

The current version of "Little Women" is probably the best film adaptation ever of this great American literary classic. The acting by both the up and coming young stars and the established Hollywood icons and the direction are outstanding. It is one of the best movies of 2019 and worthy of its Oscar nominations.

"1917" is one of the best war movies ever made. The waste, horror, hopelessness, and brutality of real war are all depicted about as well as an artistic endeavor can do. It is certainly worthy of oscar consideration for its direction, acting, and cinematography and overall for best film.

Adam Sandler absolutely should have had an Oscar nomination. Having said that "Uncut Gems" is a rather strange movie. It is comedy, addiction melodrama, dysfunctional family story, and crIme film. It is not for everyone but I would recommend it.
