With more than 60 years of perspective, modern audiences want more. A deeply personal and uniquely told story that transcends the era will fit the bill. Aretha’s story appears as One of many already told about a supremely talented black woman who overcame prejudice, misogyny, and unfaithful husband. Of course that’s not Aretha’s fault, but a lack of imagination and artistry in the storyteller. Do better.
