This documentary was hard to watch. While I didn't ever get as bad as the people in it, and have had success with some of the many many things I've tried improving gradually but significantly, I did go through a lot of what they did. I am of the opinion that it is a multifaceted illness. It is most definitely a physical illness. Various and complex interconnected issues cause your body not to function as it should, and require concentrated and persistent treatments. But it's also connected to trauma. For some reason you reach a point where trauma and illness meet at a point and your body just says NO. Shuts down. But you don't literally feel like you have had enough - it's a release of something stored in your body, repressed by your brain. That's the worst thing about it - your not sick because your depressed, your miserable because your sick.
