This movie should be rated as fiction There is no historical evidence that these events took place other than the fact that the natives were sold by their own tribal ancestors to the Spanish and Dutch yet the narrative continues to blame the “ white people” which is meant to distort the facts and make everyone believe that white Americans were to blame The fact is that there were no American “ slave ships “ or any white Americans involved in going to Africa to capture or buy slaves Anyway the narrative and plot is silly and obviously written by someone unfamiliar with the history and facts. The reviews I’m reading are coming from black people so naive and desperate for a hero of color that they will believe anything in the movies especially if it makes every white person out to be evil slave owners who owe them something Well I can say this much, they’re getting a helluva lot more help here in America than they are from the other countries including Africa for their role in slavery As a matter of fact I’ve never heard of a single black person claiming reparations from any country besides America Good luck with that btw And as far as the rest of the reviews go I thank you for the laughs because you people who posted on here wouldn’t know a good movie or storyline if it bit you on your arse Wishful thinking does not make it fact and neither does someone who just claims that the events are real As far as the acting goes I think Viola Davis is a good actress who unfortunately was given a silly script and even though she did her best I found it difficult to watch I hope she finds a better script for a movie that isn’t as racially driven to incite hatred towards the majority of white Americans who were not involved with slavery A fact that is mostly ignored by the ignorant
