This was the author’s pick for the best and personal favorite of his books. He wasn’t far off! It is absolutely captivating. I can’t think how to say more without spoilers, so I’ll just say that if you enjoy fantasy, multi-level stories, and thinking over what you’ve read, you need to read this book ASAP!! The only other competition for his best tale-telling would be a certain episode in “Voyage of the Dawn Treader,” where Eustace becomes a very miserable dragon. When Aslan comes to Eustace, it is a triumph not only of the narrative, but of Lewis’ wonderful knack for perfect metaphor.
