I listen to the audiobook on Audible it was a very detailed recounting of the weeks leading up to the Battle of Midway and its aftermath. I can highly recommend the book. The author born in 1910 has the social Outlook of the pre-World War II generation. Although the author did mention Doris Miller and his and his heroics prior to Midway during Pearl Harbor attack, there's no mention of the hundreds of African-American sailors who fought and died at the Battle of Midway. It would have been almost shocking if he had given those Sailors a second or third thought. While listening to the book I could tell by the second or third chapter that the author was probably pretty baby boomer and definitely free Generation X the above notwithstanding I appreciate the detail of the various battles the collectively made up the battle of midway.
