A friend had asked me what horror movie has traumatized me and had left a lasting impact. In my recent years, none have been able to invoke fear in me but as a child, The Ring did a whole lot of damage. It even creeps in adulthood sometimes when the TV goes static...
Friend on the other hand, named Hereditary as the movie that has fucked her up and recently too, April of this year.
Gave it a watch, I was starting to doubt it was a horror because it had just been laughs and confusion all throughout the movie. Pacing was very slow, something I've seen in Midsommar, another Ari Aster film...
The first part, where the mom and son was both dealing with their respective guilt over the death of Charlie, was the only part that moved me in the entire film.
Not worth the 2 hours. I don't think I'm an Ari Aster fan.
