To others who thought this movie was or may be “too dark” for them or their kids….guess what? It absolutely is and that is what makes it great. This is not a “children’s film”, although its totally fine for older kids and was one of my all time favorite movies growing up….Its Ridley Scott at his finest and with amazing acting, writing, cinematography, and music all with a perfectly appropriate 80’s undertone and with Mia Sara (Ferris Bueller’s Day Off) and with Tom Cruise in one of his earliest films….so good. Plus, spoiler alert, this features objectively the best antagonist ever portrayed on film. Tim Curry as Darkness is absolute perfection. This film is dark and beautiful and is a must watch for any fantasy fan…and if you are one and have not seen this one then Im jealous, have fun…enjoy the dancing gown scene and you’ll thank me later.
