Awful, and completely lacking the depth , nuance, feeling and message of the book. The film has some lovely shots and settings but is basically shallow, predictable soft porn. I kept almost falling asleep . There was no real passion or layered feeling between the two main characters. Jack O'Donnell was the more authentic but could have been better with a different Connie. Emma Corrin was wholly wrongly cast, lacked the feeling and softness and vulnerability Connie has in the book. She's too thin, angular, awkward, modern and predatory. All that stumbling and frisking about to make you feel she's a wild, liberated, 21stc cool free spirit. The scene where she throws her knickers at him after their first meeting is ludicrous. Self conscious frolicks and boring repetitive sex entirely lack the erotic mystery of the book , with its tender, profound exploration of passion and desire. No film yet made of the book has achieved this; though I thought Joely Richardson and Holliday Grainger embodied Lady Chatterley far more convincingly in earlier versions, as did Sean Bean as Mellors.
