Alright that's it... I only had room for one more crazy good videogame adaptation and I'm out. I cannot wait for the next season, I already have been waiting for LOU and now this, it's so perfectly done. In all seriousness, this one hits really hard, pans out beautifully. Even the treatment of the Brotherhood is a bittersweet "yes" from me and Walton Goggins' Ghoul seemed like a long overdue emancipation for the guy. Ella Purnell could do a little better maybe I'm a little grazed out by the trope of, a naive lead learning everything about the world they're in but yeah it works. It's actually perfect, hits the right spots, I'm not gonna look for the second season... I don't wanna know when it's coming out. Just drop it whenever, I'll clean the plate.

This movie feels like a criminally offensive attempt at drama, a parody of modern women and a love letter to the L.A lifestyle. It plays like a love child of SNL and Sesame Street, cause the actors perform like they're waiting to look at the camera and break character, while the direction seems like all the cast members have been jerry-rigged to reanimate their plastic mannerisms. There's an over-all predatory vibe, that preys on aspirations of the young and struggling, in general, to make bank, that's all it does, makes bank. It's a one-trick pony and a severe degradation of the human condition. Great wardrobe!

Somehow Hollywood kept up with the tradition of wetting their pants while dealing with H.G. Wells. Maybe and this is just a suggestion, if the adaptations were less loose(like the plot points trying their damndest to connect with one another), the movies would've been more watchable. This also establishes Spielberg to be very much a hit-and-miss guy and this was a spectacular miss. Not against artistic liberty, except the fact that half of the movie industry normally paddles their way down the sewer when handling the liberty in question, they miss the essence like this one did, they try to enforce their personal vision like this one did and then at the end they try to enforce the book's message paraphrased in a sufficiently distanced(from the source material) slew of on-the-nose imageries. In a word, Terrible.

A western, yes... but a Tom Hanks western nonetheless. I'm intimidated by any Tom Hanks movie in general, for it will inevitably melt your heart. You can sit in a freezer all day, but you can't stop it. It's poignant in its approach, truthfully harsh in its portrayal of reality, but brings about the want of doing good and finding a way to complete yourself in life. It has the warmth of a long-awaited hug and the very intimate narration of David Attenborough that somehow eases the grisliest of wounds and fills up that hole in one's heart. Needless to say, the movie addresses multiple issues still plaguing our times even after being a very dedicated period piece. Damn movie gives me parental instincts, me who was annoyed by kids crying since I was a kid of crying age. Give it a watch when you're feeling low, it might be the thing you need.
