Summary: It’s just not good, and the low rating on IMDB is justified. One of the frustrating things in this movie is that they can’t seem to decide how much knowledge the snowman has. For example he understands the meaning of stealing, but does not understand the meaning of streaking. And this inconsistency continues throughout the entire movie. It’s a major plot hole. 25 minutes into the movie, and I had already turned it off and turned it on again to give it a second chance and it’s just not a good movie. One of the other main problems is the plot. It’s predictable, childish, and just not funny. Yes, it’s a classic Hallmark-ish movie, but there are better ones out there in my opinion. It’s like the writers relied on a AI generated formula that they thought would work, but there’s no substitution for lazy writing.

Honestly, I swear WAY more than the next person and am fine with bad language in my shows. But when I’m watching a show and the swearing / graphic descriptions are *unnecessarily* there it distracts from the actual plot. The swearing should transport me into whatever world the actors are in and deepen my connection with them. I shouldn’t notice it actually happening and think “This is weird writing / Someone is trying to make them sound like a bad a** adult.” The main character also seems to swear more than anyone else and whoever wrote her is under the misconception that by her using bad language, we will suddenly think that she is a female boss. And it completely misses the boat. It’s like the writers of the show only use the foul language because they aren’t smart enough to put more engaging content in its place. And they clearly thought: this is how we will show the characters are serious adults. Anyway, I’m onto the next show about halfway through the first episode and won’t be returning. Definitely a disappointment.

Spoilers below: This movie has a lot of clever twists and turns. I can get over the bad acting because it’s not an American movie and so maybe it’s a cultural thing. The thing that gets me is the hypocrisy of the main plot twist. I’m a man, and even I know a man wrote this script. Haha Cinderella successfully defends herself from being physically assaulted by a man, kills him, and is put away for murder after being treated like a complete villain. The other woman, Remi, unsuccessfully tries to defend herself against the same man (but also fights back just as much as Cinderella). She, in contrast, is basically hailed as this unsung hero and wins the princes heart. If they had just made Cinderella more of a villain, I think it would’ve been a brilliant plot twist (and would be worth at least 2 more stars). But to literally vilify her for fighting back against a man who’s trying to sexually assault her is just a bit uncomfortable to watch. And then for them to make Remi do the exact same thing, but unsuccessfully, just sends this message: It’s OK to struggle if you are being attacked. Just make sure to do it in a nice feminine way, and whatever you do, don’t hurt the assailant.

No spoilers. A feel good movie that was pleasant to watch. Lead actor and actress were phenomenal. However, when watching it through the lens of 2024 it becomes a bit more interesting. It’s clearly a movie written by men about the empowerment of women. Throughout the movie “Tess” aspires to be taken seriously and operate in a male dominated industry. Things like sexism are frowned upon in this fictional world. Yet in the exact same movie, you see her vacuuming without a shirt on in high heels, and several shots of her and her underwear that looks like it’s something out of Victoria’s Secret catalog. Things that were 100% selected from a man’s fantasy. While she looks phenomenal in all of these shots, I find it interesting that the lead actor, Harrison Ford, only briefly has his shirt off compared to the obvious continued sexualizing of the female lead. Also, Weaver is also shown in a very sexualized role. So clearly this was a movie written by men who seemed to miss the mark a little bit if they are going for a real life equality. Beyond that though, it’s a cute movie and has a satisfying ending.

We may not choose to talk about Bruno, but nobody can even remember to talk about Wish. It is simply put - forgettable. Regarding the songs, they are poorly written though with good voices (minus Chris Pine who does not seem to have as strong as a singing voice compared to the other actors). They also all seem to sound the same. I love Disney songs and cannot imagine singing along to any of these in the car or shower. Visually it is a nice movie though I fail to see how the main character looks any different from the sister in Encanto who grows the flowers. (Odd because the movies came out so close together.) Two stars is given for the visual effects. As far as the plot is concerned it’s really a one star movie. It’s difficult to watch a movie like this and just feel almost nothing. (Excluding the goat who did provide some nice comical relief.) And that’s ultimately what you are left with here: a convoluted plot with characters you don’t really get to know beyond one surface level attribute. This results in almost no emotional attachment to the movie. My biggest wish was for this to be a better movie. And this seemingly was the one wish left ungranted at the end of the film.

Despite my own best Irish wish to enjoy this movie, there’s really no saving it. Lindsay Lohan over-acts her way through the movie. however she is not entirely to blame. A more refined actress could not save this movie. The plot is full of every hallmark movie cliché yet falls flat. There is little to no character development. The movie long, but much like the characters goes nowhere. This movie is nice to watch in the background if you are cleaning the house. And the Irish scenery is beautiful. But do not expect to watch this movie with your full attention and feel satisfied, because you will be left wishing for more.

Basically like a game of hot potato with the world’s lowest prize at the end of it ($250,000) announced like it’s some sort of multi million dollar jackpot. Low budget TV at its finest. When you watch the very first round in the very first episode you get the idea of how the entire thing works. Would not recommend. Two stars instead of one star because you can kind of play along on your own while watching watching, but other than that it’s not very interesting at all. It becomes very repetitive after a while. I think of the other reviews sums it up the best with this comment “Even when the dual is very close, it’s just not that exciting.”
