The Rise of Skywalker isn't as bad as the rotten tomatoes rating says it is. The camerawork, scenery, and most importantly, the lighting, make this movie better than an ending to a series used just to make money.
Most of the cast isn't exceptional, but they do the job well enough. For some reason, Palpatine came back, despite being thrown off a ledge on the Death Star, and then, if not dead, still remaining on the EXPLODING Death Star, and somehow survives?! I get that "all the sith live in him" or something like that, but how exactly does that work? The film doesn't explain any of that, and I would have liked to know more about Rey's past.
The scenery in the movie is stunning. The detail put into the abandoned Death Star makes it impossible to think how much time was put into creating the environment. Everything looks exactly how it did in the Return Of The Jedi, or at least I couldn't spot anything wrong with it in the back of the theater. The lighting makes everything that needs to stand out pop, and everything that doesn't still visible. And most importantly, the camerawork allows you to see everything you need to, and allows you to take in the environment given.
Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker is an adventure for kids and teens (like me) because of the action, a satisfying finish for long-time fans, and I wouldn't know about the elderly. The movie is done beautifully and is a step up from The Last Jedi, but not on the level of The Force Awakens.
