I was not expecting this! A beautifully acted and well crafted movie. They just don't make movies like this anymore. Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci, gave outstanding performances. Isabella Rosselini and John Lithgow were well cast. Costumes and music excellent!!! Vibrant colours and painstaking accuracy throughout! I can't praise this movie enough. The Catholic church has it's flaws, after all it is populated by humans, this movie shows us this. 5 stars were not enough.

I was entranced by this book, I read Under the Tuscan Sun a few years ago and picked this book up at my library. I have always wanted to visit Italy and especially Tuscany. This book is lyrical, poetic, emotional, and vivid in it's descriptions of food, life, gardens and more. I am more than ever determined to go to Tuscany.
Thank you Frances Mayes for a book that I disappeared into.

Dialogue is excellent. You get a real sense of the time period and the pressures people were under during that era.
