This show was a great way to showcase a diverse range of family home cooks and their quirky personalities presented in their food (and in-person) they bring to the table.
I really enjoyed the wholesomeness of this show because you get to see how real families deal with each other and work with each other, which makes it so relatable. (For reals, I started missing my mom after watching the Qidi from the Whitakers team) The arguments and drama are so raw but at the same time genuine and not over the top, unlike the American or Australian counterparts. You can watch this and takeaway many life lessons about family and learn what each family culture values.
Also, I really liked how most of the teams showed great sportsmanship and had loads of fun sharing their passions with each other. There was Indian dancing, twerking challenge, plate spinning, yoga, Chinese proverbs, and loads more snippets of fun. The diversity really adds so much 'flavor' to the show as well and it's interesting to see how each culture approach food, creativity and team dynamics.
My only criticism is that the grouping of teams during the preliminary rounds could be a lot better. I basically skipped all of the 3rd teams episodes because the teams weren't as competitive or strong as the other rounds in my opinion.
Otherwise, Great show. Would love another season of it.
