I was never sure if the book -obviously new but supposed to be old - and the antique book experts who constantly broke the spine of the book, bent the pages and smoked over it, wasn't an in joke by the director. Spoilt it for me.

Unintentionally hilarious. There were so many moments when we laughed out loud that we lost count. More cliches than 'Airplane'. Not sure if it should have one star or five stars.

Brilliantly written and brilliantly acted. At times it was almost painful to see Tom Hollander's character wrestle with his shortcomings. Compelling.

Slow moving and perfectly catches the confusion and angst of the early sixties.
