I personally love how real the film is… I’m a teacher and while some students on the spectrum are often mocked at or laughed at for things beyond their control is so realistically portrayed - it happens, it’s true! Ofcourse it’s today not as explicit as is shown in the film but we see it all around us in subtle ways - no one wants to be their partner for a project, etc.
Yet, what I love about the film and the protagonist is how someone who’s made to constantly feel like the ‘other’ decides to take charge and pursue a career in what is often considered ‘shallow’ for those into academia. The film says it out loud and clear - it not only has a strong take on inclusion but also questions parenting, friendships, relationships and how hard it is to truly understand what a teenager wants ———— to be spoken to and asked!!!!
