Casting: I think there is no doubt that Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh are two incredibly talented actor. They have a very natural and organic chemistry together as it was shown in Gully Boy. I had really missed Ranveer as the commercial hero and this was a treat to watch. Jaya Bachan has an amazing comic timing and the way she gracefully transitions from a villainous role to the women who had been deserted by all proves that she still is the best in her game. Chuney Ganguly and Tota Roy Chowdhury were pure gold, I am glad that this exceptional actors were given the strong and powerful characters.
Direction: The Karan Johar who made us fall in love is back. This movie was a gift from the director to his faithful audience. This movie is not a mass classic, it’s an urban tale curated for a mature and classy audience. It is a movie for the heart core lovers and I am glad that there are directors still making movies for this target audience. The movie was magical and for three hours there was not a single boring moment.
Story: I am in absolutely love with the story. As a Bengali I loved the portrayal of my community. At first I feared it might be stereotypical but I loved how the writer portrayed the real and true colours of our community. It’s more than a love story, it is a social message packed in a fun manner. The stark difference between the two culture is a mirror of the society. Howsoever, Kjo made us celebrate our differences rather than alienating us.
Songs: personally I loved the amalgamation of old Bollywood songs as I felt it gave life to the parallel storyline of Sabana Azmi and Dharmendra. The originals songs were a little disappointing but the lyrics were respectful and romantic.
Overall RRKPK is a definable watch, it is refreshing, new and exciting.
