The author is so obsessed with covid, so willing to charm the reader with his righteousness, that one of his bad guys turns out to be a Pfizer-vaccine skeptic (a very precocious one) in 2016, while the good guy is still carrying a stock of masks and gloves in 2022. I wish he were equally obsessed with characters and plot plausibility, but alas, the only believable character (aged 81) had her 3 kids while in her mid-forties.
