Choi Min-sik cements himself as a solid actor who can take any role. This was my second favorite movie role as a villan and gives an enticing counter to vengeance filled cop, Lee Byung-hun. This film doesn't pull any punches with its unflinching visceral imagery and relentless sadness. The psychological horrors are about as shocking as the gore, and thankfully not over gratuitous or campy. Thought provoking, the decisions each character faces make this movie an experience with every viewing.

One of my favorite movies of all time. Lee Young-ae is captivating and a must see as vengeance incarnate. Choi Min-sik masterfully steals scenes as the blackmailing serial killer. Beautiful cinematography and smart direction makes the web these two weave a thrilling yet artistic ride. In terms of a woman's wrath film, Beatrix Kiddo is small potatoes compared to the cunning and vengeance filled hate that Guem-Ja Lee or Sayo/Yuki Kashima have in their arsenals.

An interesting take on vampire origins, this stylized bleak dark comic is a lot slower paced than other Park Chan Wok films but doesn't disappoint.

Developed characters with depth and the supernatural isn't too hokey, albeit a bit slow paced. If you enjoy Thirst, Train to Busan, The Host, or Kingdom its worth watching. It's not as dark as I Saw The Devil, Old Boy or as intellectually stimulating as Sympathy for Lady Vengeance or Mother though.
