Do yourself a favor and don’t read the review below mine from Sarnita. Shame on them for putting a key spoiler in the first line of their review without any warning. Now about the movie: it’s dark, sad, a psychological thriller, a slow burn with an ending that made my jaw hit the floor. JLawrence was great and her beautiful self, as always. As soon as I finished, I told my friends “wow - that was one messed up movie!!!” But in an interesting way that just makes you tilt your head and be like “whhhhaaa?!?” Gave it 4 stars for it being beyond my comfort level of “disturbing” - but I like being pushed now and then. And also since a review spoiled the ending - otherwise there would have been a much bigger shock factor. Remember people - you leave reviews AFTER you watch the movie, generally people read reviews when deciding if they SHOULD watch a movie. I don’t care about your thoughts and opinions if you haven’t watched it, but heard it was dumb. And I’m definitely not looking for a reviewer to spoil the ending unless proper notice is given.

Phew. I really don’t know how to rate this. It was well done and well made but the subject matter is very tough - for a middle to upper aged female. I like the horror genre but very little scares me, and I have the feeling I’ll have nightmares about this. Again, well made - just think about if this is the type of content you want to watch before viewing. Oh, and there’s a bunch of nudity or close to (FYI). It makes sense in context but also was a little too much overall. The color scheme used in the movie, decor, plus everything mentioned above just left me feeling super weird.

So I’m leaving this review based on the entertainment value. I almost always have my TV on in the background while doing other things - worth noting that - since I did not sit down and commit time to watching this movie with undivided attention. From that aspect, I thought it was a good movie. It’s more of a teen flick - living selfishly like there are no consequences. Overall, I enjoyed it. There are some films I ultimately end up sitting down and watching because they’re that good. And others I’ve turned off because they’re that bad. This was a good movie to play in the background. I occasionally look up reviews when I’m not familiar with the title - those types of horror films are generally the ones I turn off the quickest. In this case the reviews didn’t convince me enough to NOT watch it. It’s decent and childish (not deep from a thought provoking standpoint) - and not gorey with jump scares.

I love love love this movie!! The actors are excellent, the story line olds several different meanings on how people cope with life, disappointment, and hope. I recommend it to just about everyone. Only a couple didn’t really get it — but I have the movie memorized by now so my laughter before a situation even happened may have caused some confusion. I can’t believe Netflix didn’t promote it more when it first came out. The rotten tomatoes score seems low but they often score based on how artistic the movie is shot. This is a great movie for normal people to help us laugh at reality instead of cry. This is by far my favorite movie - I can watch over and over - it never gets old!

Several people posted about how the trailer was misleading because the movie wasn’t really about the civil war aspect. I thought they were being too critical - but turns out, I agree with them. There’s no context around the war. You don’t know who is fighting who really, which doesn’t give the premise much credibility to me. If anything, it reminded me of Princess Diana and how the press got in the way. Of course, I’ll always love Kirsten Dunst … and her hubby makes a cameo appearance that is pretty appalling. I didn’t think the movie was terrible - it just wasn’t that good. And like others said - I expected it to be different based on the trailer.

No. A social pariah… I enjoyed the movie up to the ending. But…These kids pranked people with very serious situations! Thinking theyd have no repercussions or consequences? Such an awful thing to do, human-to-human. And then I’m supposed to feel bad for them (the kids …2 that are 20s-ish yrs old). being in this situation?!? I expected a better/different ending which could have made the movie worthwhile.

Good movie. Fairly graphic/gorey. I love a strong female lead, tho her husband was kind of a pansy, which was disappointing. I’m giving it 3/5 stars because rotten tomatoes gave it 100%, and I don’t understand how that’s possible. It is a good movie, just not THAT good. I wouldn’t watch it again but don’t regret watching it either. The plot has been done before, no surprises at the end, but it did still keep my attention.

I rarely leave reviews but this movie IS a gem! I thought it was suspenseful but not scary. As a female, I loved that there was finally a smart female victim!! The main character was sharp, intelligent, and resourceful - which I loved. To each their own I suppose (referencing the bad reviews), but I personally think this movie is underrated. If you’re looking for a thrill that gets your heart pumping - Kristy is a good one to watch! And while it’s “horror”, it’s not going to leave you wanting to sleep with your lights on. Though the song “Jesus loves me” is whistled throughout and now it’s stuck in my head - but at least it’s a positive song :) Enjoy!
