Oh my goodness! Natalia is - a severely manipulative handful with evil (harm causing) intent towards her caregivers - for various reasons that aren’t Natalias fault necessarily due to her upbringing, but not the fault of those trying to help her either… I only know what I know from the documentaries… so am going based on that… Michael is an insecure manchild who needed direction. Kristine has a chronic need to help people. Not sure if this is true or not - but Michael proposed to her while he was standing on a bridge threatening to kill himself and Kristine asked him to get down and ask her to marry her. If true, that shapes A LOT about who these people are. Kristine had special needs kids to care for +1 husband manchild who failed her where she needed it the most: support when she asked for it. She had a need to be perfect, helpful, together - all the time. To her detriment. If anyone “deserved” to snap or “lash out” it’s Kristine! Not entitled Natalia who was given so much and tried to kill the family in return. Natalia - “CPS.. the “C doesn’t stand for Child in your case” says Michael. Hah. Sometimes when you try to help those most *disturbed* (for lack of a better word related to traumatized..etc) and just give them love, it backfires on you. That’s why so many don’t help strangers out anymore - bc it backfires. Think about all angles!! Sure some things could have been handled differently in hindsight. BUT… what would YOU have done? I’m guessing you just wouldn’t have adopted her to begin with…. It’s not like the Barnetts were getting a hefty paycheck to help. Who cares if it was to show they could create another success story??? They TRIED - gave her the opportunity. And she admittedly tried killing various members of the family several times!!!! As someone else stated - only the people involved know the real truth, but based on my research, documentaries, the show (for dramatic effect), which I know is crafted information for public consumption - this is my perception/analysis. 🤷🏻‍♀️🙃

Hahah yeah… I read reviews before and still decided to put this film on for background noise. It’s like someone’s “first movie ever made”… with the acting, dialog, screenshots… actually makes the movie cute in a sense. My favorite part (no spoilers) was when the front door locked, and Charles whispered to the girls “back door”…. Then they all walked like Scooby doo characters to the back of the house. Or how Gru on Despicable Me lifts his legs up high to tip toe around. Like seriously. I give this 2-3 stars for effort. But it’s not a hidden gem. Take it for what it’s worth. Go in without expectations. If this your solely your entertainment for the evening, then you’ll likely be disappointed. Otherwise it’s … fine.

It’s fine. I can’t tell if this is ironic and funny, or just bad. So if you watch it thinking it’s funny - it’s great! Acting is so predictable, fight scenes are a little too “extra”, and there’s just poor usage of common sense. But it’s still enjoyable to watch. Depending on what you’re in for the mood for, it could be great, or….. it could be bad if you’re looking for serious. I’m actually surprised at the rotten tomatoes score thinking their rating was relatively high. I’m sure there are others out there that would really enjoy it - it’s just not so much my thing at the moment I suppose.

I didn’t expect to like this as much as I did! Really good watch. It is intense/suspenseful - about a national EMP event where a city girl is trying to get to her grandfather in the woods for safety. I drove thru New Mexico once and my mom and I think there was a EMP event because all the power went out and my car display didn’t work the next day. (Oh - and I was still able to drive it - it was a new model at the time (2014?) - but the radio and display didn’t work. When I took it to the dealership in CA, they said they’ve never seen anything like that happen before. Took them over a month to fix it - making this edit after seeing everyone else’s posts about cars during an EMP event) I mean…. It was New Mexico after all …. I’m not really shocked…. But this could be a very scary potential scenario if it happened on a larger scale. Technically the movie is not rated but I’d say in the PG13 range. Not really language that I noticed, no sex scenes. It’s a survival movie with strong family ties.

So an hour and half into the movie I thought it was dull, boring, numbing…. Which is fine because I was cleaning and such, but then when I sat down to relax, the story line shifted to the bank teller (HBO Dexter’s sister). Weird seeing as it didn’t really fit. At that point I was about to turn it off, but looked up reviews and saw how people were raving about it, and it had a decent RT score…. So I continued on…it’s such an odd movie because it’s slow in a kind of way like every 10 min should be momentous and award winning… but for what?!?! ——>will continue my review when I finish the film….ill press on due to boredom —— Okay. No spoilers. I just don’t get this movie or find it interesting. Maybe guys do (vs females) but it’s flat out BLAH to me. It’s good for background noise, but I wouldn’t dedicate time to actually watching it.

Yeah… I really don’t know what I think about this movie. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t good. LA is definitely the best location setting. But it was very focused on one woman having her period. Not joking. Sorry fellas, period blood doesn’t drip blood like a deep cut and women generally don’t need to change their super tampon 5x over the course of an hour…. I mean maybe but it just didn’t make sense to me other than LA is the city of lost angels. It’s a movie. I get it… but idk just felt off to me. I agree with the audience score more than rotten tomatoes - I would haves expected something in the 15% range from RT but only gave the movie a shot bc it was in the 60%ish. Not bad, not good, you won’t regret not watching it - if you’re like me and put movies on for background noise - it may actually be more distracting for the inaccuracies. I thought the drops of blood on the floor were missed spots that weren’t cleaned up from a previous kill hahaha but no, it was hers - females if you get my drift…

Good watch! Good acting, interesting story plot. It’s a suspense movie - not horror, I wouldn’t even classify it as thriller. It’s a lite-R… there wasn’t anything incredibly offensive but I imagine the rating was for the language, smoking, intense situations… so like equal to MA-14. I love Elizabeth Banks - I feel she portrayed a similar character as she did in the Beanie Bubble Apple+ movie - fun loving until she’s not (to other characters). I was also expecting this movie to be more closer to Demi Moore’s “The Substance” - that movie is a “horror/fantasy/mental health” movie for females. “Skincare” is more along the lines of people doing whatever it takes to do what they think will help them move up in life regardless of if they hurt others in the process. Not award winning, but also not a waste of time. Enjoy!

As a female - I really liked it. It’s fantasy, not realistic in that sense but entertaining - and you can still pull out relatable scenarios. Clearly based on other reviews, this may not be a film men would likely enjoy. I didn’t really focus so much on how the guys treated the character played by Chloe, because NEWS FLASH men still treat women like that today!! Even tho this was based in a WWII … and men wouldn’t use those words today - they’ve come up with new words and phrases and mansplaining and gaslighting. So to me, that’s just … whatever. What I loved and took away from this was that moms … moms are freaking super heroes. They can somehow form superhuman strength that only a mom will understand. I think that’s pretty cool and what I enjoyed most! So men - stop your b*tching and call your mommas to thank them for birthing you!! :) Overall - good watch. Action packed. There are gremlins (it’s fantasy). Not scary but thrilling. Good ending. Rating wise - R for language (hah - from the guys), and gore/violence/intense situations… but not excessive. No nudity or sex or torture type of thing. I feel there should be a rating between pg-13 and R for this type of film. Enjoy!

Omg I was LOLing the entire second half of this movie when they started acting out their stories. I so want to do this at my next friend hangout! I hate movies that take place in one spot the entire time …but this kept me entertained!! Def recommend if you want something light, funny, slightly edgy - they are telling scary stories after all. I just don’t get how the main guy is so jumpy when he's a horror writer. But hey. It’s a movie and scaredy cats are funny!

Surprisingly a really great thriller that’s PG-13 but still has the same level of intensity as an R rated movie without the sex and gore. Very realistic, and a new level of how people get past the system. I typically don’t watch trailers for thrillers bc they give to much away - in this case - I didn’t even look at the full cast and was shocked I didn’t recognize Jason Batemans voice earlier on in the movie, but as soon as I saw his face I was like “woah….!” Didn’t expect it to be that kind of movie since it just came out and weren’t many reviews yet. Everything he’s in is almost always great IMO. This movie was no exception. It’s a great thriller watch.
