One of the highly anticipated movies of this year and I thought it was worth seeing. Never been a Little Mermaid fan even though I have watched the animated classic but this movie was so much fun watching from beginning to end. Halle Bailey IS Ariel, period. Beautiful singing voice, gorgeous, and charismatic on the big screen. I know her casting has been criticized ever since she was announced but Rob Marshall (the director) said plenty of times that they had hundreds of girls to audition and Bailey set the bar so high, NOBODY couldn’t surpass her so leave your “woke” political negative takes at home because this movie is for a NEW generation of Disney kids that are growing up in a more diverse world. Melissa was wonderful as Ursula, she was more creepy and scarier than the original which I loved since she is a classic Disney villain. Prince Eric has a personality, yes I said it, a personality, since he shows more growth than the OG Prince Eric and has interests similar to Ariel. The scenes are colorful and appealing and the music is more grander. It’s just an overall wonderful experience! If you’re unsure about going, ignore the reviews, buy yourself a ticket, and just go with low expectations and an open mind so you can see for yourself.
