It's real simple folks. If you like the Saw movies you'll be happy with this spinoff. If you don't like the Saw movies there's nothing for you here. Where you rank Spiral is largely personal preference but I doubt anyone would put this one at the bottom of their list. Rock impressed me with his Tarantino-esque snappy dialog early in this film but left me a tad disappointed with his delivery as the film progressed. Still this is a minor complaint. It's a Saw film. Nobody expects a Daniel Day-Lewis level performance here. Best of all was the complete lack of terrible acting that plagued the later installments of this franchise. This is a movie made by and for Saw fans and frankly that's exactly what I hoped for. The bums that made Mortal Kombat could learn a thing or two about fan service from Spiral.
