the practical effects and what not were pretty turnt, really good attention to detail re the first movies, but there was imo a pervasive sense of "disney-ification" with the nostalgia bait combined with the mediocre writing. it really felt like they're planning on pumping out a couple trillion sequels in the next five years and also i did not love that Andy guy being another cheap representation of implied neurodivergence as "evil" or "incompetent." overall, as a long time alien fan, this movie was a beautifully well-executed and perfectly acceptable rehash of Aliens, i just wish it was a little less cliché and a little more confident. worth your time, not worth your money
