Even when you are alone, you are never really alone.
At the start of the series, The Queen's Gambit teases us with what seems to be an obvious plotline - Beth is an orphan and a genius, and has all the makings of a future alcoholic and drug addict.
Indeed, the series explores these themes in some depth and detail all through out. There she goes, you think, and indeed she does go at it, time and again, until you are almost sure of what endgame looks like.
But this is chess, and that's the beauty of this series, that it's themed around chess and then it's constructed like a good game of as well!
Absolutely the best thing to binge watch over a long weekend.
