The choice of writing it in present tense 3rd person was extremely hard to read. I got about 1/3 through it and couldn't finish it. The characters were unlikable, the serial killer was a mockery of many actual serial killers. It was just not well written. The publishing company and editor were betting on the rabid fans of the morbid podcast to drive sales, and they did. I was a huge fan of the podcast...but after reading this, I can't even get back into it.
