I really wanted to like this album. But no. I can't. There are 12 tracks on this album, but honestly, you can only count 9 because three are straight up filler. Higher Power is pretty mediocre because it heavily leans on being this poppy, yet shallow song. Kinda like how it's been since their previous album (which is definitely better than this one, even though that isn't saying much). They also made this super corny choreographed that I can never watch again. I legitimately felt second-hand embarrassment and all I can hope for is that they paid those dancers enough to have to perform that choreograph. And then with "My Universe"? Look....I like BTS. I like and respect what they put out, but this song should legitimately have the credits switched, where it's BTS ft. Coldplay. It legitimately feels like Coldplay wanted to attach another massive pop name (first one was Chainsmokers) onto one of their tracks just to make some cash. Which is incredibly sad. The only good tracks on this album are Humankind, Let Somebody Go, <3, and Coloratura. These tracks ACTUALLY sound like Coldplay tracks. It's what we know and love. And I'm not opposed to these guys trying new things (because they've been doing so since Viva La Vida) but it's not been good as of late. And that makes me so sad. I genuinely hope the rest of the fanbase feels the same because for the love of God, we need to go back to literally any other album previous to this. Because as of now, I genuinely feel like all they're doing right now is following the drab pop trends of today and they're selling out hard.
