Season one was good, but flawed. However, season two doesn't seem to have a clear creative voice or solid writing. Such wasted potential. I'm sure some of the S1 backlash and the cast changes caused a lot of chaos, but that's no excuse for sloppiness and bad choices. A few minutes into the season finale I had to pause to see if I missed an episode, because the inexplicable jump in two of the storylines made me question my sanity. Then they hastily wrap up some of the other stories they ignored for half a season in baffling ways. Honestly feel bad for the actors. A lot of them are doing a great job with the poor material the studio execs slopped their way.

Finished the DLC and the (nerfed) final boss fight on ng+. On the plus side, there was so much amazing content in the DLC: a beautifully crafted world, several memorable and challenging bosses, a well-(un)balanced leveling system for players at all levels, and pretty awesome selection of weapons and spells. However, the final content was probably my least enjoyable FromSoft experience, and the reward for dipping that much time to learn the boss fight was shockingly disappointing. Not sure if I will replay the DLC on subsequent playthroughs, and if I do, I'll probably skip the final content.
