Definitely amongst the best Police dramas of all time and who can forget the most famous theme! Jack Lord is McGarrett and although he did retire after making this series, he made the series his own. There is no comparison between this and the remake, the two shows are totally different, other then having the same title, characters and theme..It is non soap operatic, which in my opinion is a good thing. What is rare about the show was the fact that it was filmed on location in beautiful Hawaii..Rare in the sense that most shows in the 60's and 70's were filmed in Los Angeles studio back lots. The series cinematography and use of colors and backgrounds is absolutely breathtaking. The show still airs in reruns today and gives another generation a chance to watch and hopefully embrace a true crime drama classic!!

This is a true TV classic that launched a beloved franchise and is considered one of the best sci-fi shows of all time. Yes, it is from the 60's and it definitely shows, but the plots and storylines represent the future in a positive light. The chemistry between the actors on the series is phenomenal. The special effects, although dated, add to the appeal of the series which is 55 years old.. Definitely when watching the series, note the era that this was filmed in and enjoy it for what it represents!
