Again one of the best Russian World War movie (1972 version) with a sense of humour.This film keeps you tied with the variety and depth of each of the characters which keeps unfolding as the film progresses.The Russian countryside has an atmosphere of tranquility until the Germans arrive there.As the quiet area turns into a battlefield ,the bravery of the innocent Russian girls under the incharge of the only male commanding officer comes into play.Though a long film but time stoods by as you watch both parts without taking a break.

Superb WW2 film.It was nice to see this film from a Russian perspective, especially the sacrifices the Russian women made protecting their fatherland.
