I bought this book from Waterstones as part of a “blind book” promotion; where a display of books were wrapped in brown parcel paper with nothing but the genre and a quote from the book. I was unsure what to expect, but I was looking for something to take on holiday with me to pass some time travelling - I had no idea if I would actually read this or not. Olivie Blake has reignited my joy of reading - I could not put this book down. Every character is beautifully crafted to be individual but easily compliment each other. The concept is completely unique compared to other fantasy genres, and I loved how the fantasy was grounded in science. There were complex elements of physics involved that were explained in a clear and entertaining way which was relevant to the story; to be able to articulate such knowledge in such a digestible way is a gift and Olivie would have made a great teacher! Again, I could not put this book down and have recommended to many friends and family. It was a wonderful escape from reality and a journey full of emotion - I am currently on the second book of this trilogy and I am very excited for the third!
