I wanted to love this book, and despite some complaints from others I actually really enjoyed the book binding process and detail the author included. However, I found the novel disappointing over all. Despite being set in a turbulent time, the story develops slowly and not a lot ever really happens in the book. The main character is difficult to like, and I would have preferred more details for other more interesting characters. The ending is most disappointing as there’s no resolution, leaving the reader glad the book is finished, but without satisfaction.
