Well, I read the three Foundation novels in my 20´s. I treasured them in my memory as one of my favorite science-fiction stories and Asimov as one of my favorite writers. I revisited the three novels just when this series was announced. Honestly, I´m disappointed. Besides the title, some names, a couple of basic situations in the first chapter, maybe the second, there´s very little of Asimov´s Foundation in this production. It´s a completely different story, which, very probably, will find adepts, but don´t tell me it´s Asimov´s. The Creon genetic-dynasty plot, for example, is irrelevant for me. In stead, I was expecting the interesting journey of the Foundation people (encyclopedists, mayors, merchants) in the planet Terminus, a journey based in the astuteness, cleverness of some members of the First Foundation to survive the periodical crises for centuries; not by force, battles, and many other more conventional subplots. As things have gone on in this first season, the distance between Asimov´s Foundation and this version is going to be huge. In eight or ten seasons (if only just), there will be nothing left and I´m sorry. I can´t imagine how they are going to represent a character like The Mule. Probably he will be the great great grandson of one of the Cleons. The production is visually attractive, but there are many forced solutions: Hari Seldon is back from the past in living flesh; the Vault is really a time-machine; Salvor Hardin is the daughter of Gaal, who has been traveling in a space capsule for uncountable decades.Truth is, I´m a bit frustrated. I only recommend to the viewers get the book if they have a chance.
