I wish this was filmed as a documentary instead of a movie. The video footage is dark, fast and it's generally hard to follow IMO. You really need the narration to understand what's going on. Most of the fighting is off camera, presumably because it's too violent but still the majority of the film is spent focusing on conflict and competition while being very light on the daily lives of these creatures. They also never step back to show you how they're filming it which I found disappointing. Overall I didn't learn many new things from this film. It's mostly just a story about characters that happen to be chimpanzees.
